Seldom have I EVER been impressed with ANY other company's finished crawl space encapsulation work. At times whenever I have recognized real effort, those results were created by another person like my old self, a self employed business owner that was wearing all the hats. If you wear all the hats, and can now pull off pretty good projects yourself, you are working your damn ass off for one, and for two, you are likely making more money than you ever have before. But, but, but....what happens if you want to earn more? Be honest! The honest answer is, "You've already scaled to capacity, unless you are now ready to begin running a real business, which is going to require effort and tactics not associated with you being the owner of your own job." You might be thinking, "F' you mf'er! I own a damn business!" And I will be quick to educate those of you. You sir, or you ma'am, have created a job, not a business. How does one know the difference? Simple! Do you have to be there in order to generate income? If that answer is a yes, you have a job. You see, a real business, earns money without you having to be there. I had an extremely successful person tell me years ago, "Tanner, if you never learn how to make money in your sleep, you'll work until you die." If you are beginning to comprehend, understand now....I remember what it was like first learning this shit! It was 2012 for me. I was making more money than ever! I was a damn hot shot! And I had 100% created myself a damn job! All of this shit I teach others, I am effortlessly able to do so, due to the fact that I have already lived it! I know the problems you face. I know the required solutions. And I recognize mindsets capable of making it all happen, just as easily as I recognize those who can't. Not everyone is cut out to live this type of life. For many mindsets, it's much easier to go punch that clock. To each is own. Focus more on identifying these types of characters. That skill will earn you way more income, than getting caught up in thinking you are capable of changing other peoples' mindsets. You can waste all the time in the world working on changing your friends, or you can change your friends. That chosen inner circle affects way more than a common mind ever gives credit. I see a few of you putting out decent work these days. Congratulations! I know that doesn't happen by accident. I speak to business owners weekly, who are either currently operating inside of the crawl space services space, or are looking to enter the space. Some of you are already producing pretty good finished projects. Some of you don't know where to start. That is NOT a knock on anyone. We ALL start somewhere. I specialize in helping other business owners learn a system that creates what I'll tell you, and what countless others will tell you, the best finished projects inside the industry. And how to do that repeatedly, consistently, each and every single time you commit to taking money from a customer. When these type of results occur over and over, to a point, where your name is synonymous with ''integrity'', you won't be hurting for work! All homeowners within, and even outside of your local operating market will want what you have to offer. This happens organically! And it is actually the reward for you striving to do your upmost best, without someone lingering over your shoulder, telling you that you must be doing so. And I am grateful for both types. Some of you create desire within myself to give you more of my time. That excites me! Some of you voluntarily let me know that you are not my type, and ensure that I never have any communication with you. That excites me too! The more of both that happens, the larger my circle of like minds becomes. With increasing like minds, comes increasing ideas. New ideas that can become beneficial to the group as a whole. I am not smarter myself, than multiples of us thinking and progressively working towards a common goal. In ''Think and Grow Rich'', Napolean Hill discusses how two minds thinking and working together towards accomplishing a common goal, creates in turn a third mind, that itself is greater and more powerful than either of the individual minds. Apply this philosophy towards the system I teach. More and more of you are finding out how valuable what I have been teaching others to do for years, is for your own business. Like me, not all of you, but many of you started as one man show. We didn't have a system! We had to figure things out on our own via trial and error. And if you think like I think, my finished results were never good enough for me. I would document and review each finished project, and see areas that I could improve upon. Each finished project, same scenario: me ridiculing myself on what could be done to improve the overall performance and appearance of each project. This pattern continued until I reached a point where I literally didn't know how to make the projects any nicer. I was already producing better results than any compared projects within the nation, and the finished appearance was impeccable! Maybe....just maybe, let's say you too reached that point....I already know the point that comes next! That's when so much work starts coming in that you can't do it all! You have to turn marketing ads off! And you have to resort to being an actual business owner, and start bringing aboard team members! Now here you are trying to make someone else become what took you years to create personally! Now, these people can't meet your standards, you end up letting them go, and you're back to do everything by yourself again! I promise you too, it won't take too much of that before you realize how much you are holding yourself back, not being able to create the income you want, because we all can only do so much within a given day. It's usually at this point when reality sets in, and if a person is smart, they come to realize that they have created for themselves, everything they were trying to get away from, whenever deciding to start their own business. In simpler terms: Smart people see that they have created another job, and not a business. So we're clear, a job requires you in order to generate income. A real business can generate income without you. If you are earning money while sleeping, congratulations! You have a real business. If you are only able to generate income while you are on a job site, you have a job. I don't care if you own the job. You have a job. I am not saying there's anything wrong with either. Everyone has their own individual goals. I am not here to determine your goals. I am just open enough to say all of these things honestly! This honesty, that drew many of you to me, I stand on it son! It's why I say the things I say. The things I say do two things, they're a double edge sword! I am eliminating those that do not share a like mindset, thus giving me more time, energy, and focus to deliver unto those of you possessing a like mindset. In comes the system! Crawl space season is upon us ladies and gentleman. I am wishing you your biggest year ever! -Tanner Flowers 4/05/2026 10:28am  Wet crawl space problems.... for more than twenty years I've been assisting home and company owners on how to properly remove standing water in a crawl space. Many said customers and trainees, before understanding my complete training curriculum, only viewed problematic standing water issues inside crawl spaces from an ''above surface'' point of view. What I mean by that is, before me, their comprehension of the matter stopped beyond what was visible to them. That's not a dig towards anyone either. It's simply a matter of what a friend taught me years ago, ''We don't know what we don't know.'' Good news is, most average contractors are aware of visible water drainage. They can see it running atop the grass, water rushing out of gutter downspouts, and most plan accordingly to prevent any problems from these referenced points via an exterior perimeter French drain which was typically installed during construction, dirt grading pitched so that surface water routes away from the foundation of the home, and gutter downspouts extended into the yard, where the dispensed water will fall naturally away from the home. Bad new is, after most average contractors have performed all their known precautionary measures, I still see standing water inside crawl spaces! The question then becomes, ''Where is this standing water coming from?'' Surface Drainage Water Let's first quickly go over some of the most commonly witnessed surface drainage water situations. As a crawl space contractor, the first thing you should learn to do as you are pulling up to each new crawl space inspection, is take into account the topography of the land. As you are studying the pitch of the land, start thinking like water. Where's your high point? Where's your low point? Having the ability to identify these two points will instantly tell you the direction of water flow. Once you have grasped the direction of water flow, often times you will see that the foundation of the home is not only in the direct path of water flow, but ask yourself another question? ''What's the deepest point in that water highway you're studying there?'' The answer usually is what I mentioned above, the foundation of the home! And that's due to whenever the footing was initially dug for concrete, that depth has to be so deep, in accordance to satisfy the general building guidelines per local territory of construction. These footing points are now the lowest points in the currently referenced water highway. This is the bottom location of the foundation walls, as well foundation piers. I'll get more into these low points momentarily, for now, now that you have a basic understanding of topography and water flow, you need to make sure water is ''shedding'' away from the home. Any identified points where water flow is allowed to directly find the foundation of the home is a problem, and needs to be rectified via the addition and pitching of soil, so that the problematic water then not be allowed to directly find the foundation of the home. Same ruling applies to any water witnessed running towards the home via the driveway, exterior patios, etc. Grinding and re-pitching concrete and asphalt often results in a drainage channel having to be cut into said concrete or asphalt, and then directing the captured water away from the home via gravity preferably, or by the use of a sump pump. The biggest surface drainage water contributor is coming from the roof! Always study the downspout locations. If water is dumping at these points, instead of the discharge points being extended into the yard, there's one of the largest problems to address. Now, what if I told you, that even if you address all exterior situations mentioned above, I mean you have gotten all of the dirt pitched so that the surface water is now shedding away from the home, all of your gutter downspouts are now extended properly into the yard, no water is now able to directly find its way against the exterior foundation at any driveway, patio, etc., that standing water can still end up making itself visible inside the crawl space! Because friends, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M TELLING YOU! Groundwater Drainage Everything that I just said above, you know what it all has in common? It's all visible. So essentially, surface drainage water is visible, while another invisible culprit is at play. The invisible culprit I am referencing is of course groundwater! And groundwater drainage is not something that can be seen, until it's visibly standing around the inside perimeter of the foundation, and around the bottoms of the foundation piers. And you might be asking why this water is now visibly standing around these points in the crawl space? Well just resort back to your water highway! Where are the lowest points inside that highway? That's right! Where the footing was dug. And worse news is, in most circumstances, the entire crawl space ground level is at a lower depth than its surrounding exterior ground level. It's a hole guys! And when that groundwater makes itself visible, usually 24-28 hours after the rain began, it can't magically grow legs and climb itself back out of the crawl space, and join its surface drainage water buddy along the water highway. And whenever this is the case (which it normally is the case), you have to resort to my system, which has been proven for years, across multiple states. Crawl space encapsulation installation, as you may have already imagined, is no simple task to accomplish. There's no vast array of volunteers waiting in line to crawl underneath your house. And of those willing, good luck finding the few that care about their end results, and overall, their reputation.
Therein lies one of the key ingredients to achieving results such as always seen on any Tanner Flowers project. It's difficult to compete against someone who's reputation is always on the line. Especially whenever that person cares passionately about their reputation, and is fully aware that if he/she wants to continue building a successful business, that they in turn must continuously increase their own credibility. That only ever happens one way, by always keeping your word. The process can be sped up by simply, overdelivering on your word. Don't ever be afraid to do a little extra. And if you're willing to do a little extra, be proud to show the customer in the end, exactly the steps you took to go above and beyond committed expectations. I've never seen a customer that didn't appreciate me doing a little more than I said I would. Your customers will appreciate your effort as well, and will then be even more likely to refer you to their friends and family. No one can put the effort in for you. No one can create the desire for you to want to deliver exceptional quality projects. Few are going to be willing to go through the years of trial and error required to gain the knowledge on their own, to produce consistent first class results. That in itself is an extreme mental challenge to overcome, and the physical punishment your body will go through in getting there, starts weighing a heavy toll in due time. I once terminated workers for sharing pictures of my in progress projects. I encouraged everyone to share the finished project, but no one was ever allowed to show any in progress material. I never wanted anyone knowing my system. Still, to this day, you can click on any of my projects, and then click on anyone else's, and immediately realize that, ''Damn, Tanner really wasn't just talking shit all of these years!'' Once you have came to the realization that I have ALWAYS SPOKEN THE TRUTH, you might then be able to comprehend how I can be of value to those of you going down the same path I did. I can save you years, versus just ''learning as you go''. That's what I had to do! You don't have to do that! So here I am. The guy that once refused to help anyone other than his workers, or paying trainees, creating the fast track to mastering crawl space encapsulation. Appreciate you! -Tanner Flowers 11:18am, 12/22/2025  Are musky odors coming from my crawl space? I was discussing this exact question with a homeowner yesterday. The answer is, any home that has a crawl space, whether it be a full crawl space foundation, or half basement, half crawl space foundation, will have a distinguishable scent inside the crawl space portion of the project, versus the actual living quarters of the home. Much is the same with basements. Ever opened a basement door to go downstairs, and the musky odor from the basement immediately knocks you in your face? It's the same type smell. It accumulates due to excessive humidity within the confines of the crawl space, and makes its way up, into the living quarters of the home.
The musky odors will die down some during the winter months, as cold weather drops humidity in the air. Whenever spring comes around, we start getting more rain, and temperature rises. This results in the increase of humidity in the air, as well as an increase of moisture content within the soil, in turn resulting in an increase of musky odors present within the home itself. The way to remedy this situation is to gain control of the excessive humidity within the crawl space, so that it is no longer able to present problems to the home. As you have seen me do all these years with my crawl space encapsulation system, I am changing the crawl space's environment entirely! You have, and will always notice, my system doesn't change. That is solely due to the fact that my system works, and has been working for a long, long time now. Part of the system is not the system. An encapsulation itself is not the remedy. A dehumidifier placed inside of an ongoing, unchanged damp environment will work itself to death! The play hand in hand off of one another. They're teammates! Once they have in partnership, gained control of the humidity inside the crawl space, the once present musky odors are no more. And why are they no more? I first began writing ''Everything You Need To Know About Crawl Space Encapsulations'' back in 2017! I chiseled away at the manuscript on and off, for a number of years, until finally deciding recently that I was going to complete it. Fortunately for me, there has been two or three people interested in watching my crawl space encapsulation videos, which I began posting in 2015. I began installing crawl space encapsulations in 2008, but I did not begin posting finished project videos until some time in 2015. As soon as I began posting my crawl space project videos, I started getting regularly asked, ''Tanner, how in the world do you get them crawl spaces looking like you do?'' Funny thing is, I wasn't ever able to tell my secrets. Everything I had created, I had done so via trial and error, in route to accomplishing the finished projects you are accustomed to seeing attached to my name. The only people I could share any of my system's steps with, were my employees. I had no desire to share my techniques with anyone outside of my team. Then, I finally accepted some lucrative offers, and began training other companies, outside of my personal territory of course. These company training events began with a starting price of $10,000, plus all associated travel costs. Throughout the years, due to the demand, and accompanied travel, training pricing increased. I no longer even consider leaving home for anything less than $20,000, plus all associated travel costs. These are real, actual numbers that I am sharing with you for a reason. You see, the information, aka ''my system'', is what everyone has always been after. They want me to teach them how to do what it is that I do! Fact of the matter is, all I do IS DO MY BEST! It's all that I've ever done! I always wanted to best the Tanner Flowers from the previous project! I just wanted to outdo that guy! Every time I train anyone, I want to leave there, wherever it may be, with whoever paid me knowing, ''Damn he just gave us his all!'' What I am saying to you right here, right now, this is my secret! The cat's out of the bag! As mentioned, yes I have created a system that goes along with my secret, which I guess ain't so secret anymore. The system must be followed. Everything has to be done in the order given. Materials never change. I teach everyone to follow the same recipe. It's my recipe. And my recipe works better than any other recipe I have ever witnessed. People are free to have their own opinion. I don't mind who agrees, or disagrees, with any information I have provided via online finished project videos, or via my book. Here's what I do know, if I had EVER seen ANYONE produce results better than me, I would have figured out whatever it is that they were doing, and copied them down to a t. But I never seen anyone do it! Sure I've had people talk their fair share of smack online, but no one has ever shown the results, that I consistently have shown the world, since I began producing content on crawl space encapsulations. If you wonder why that's so? It's due to no one else's name ever being on the line but Tanner Flowers. If these customers are ever upset, they are upset with Tanner Flowers. The opposite is also true. If a customer is happier than any service company has ever left them, they are happy with Tanner Flowers! And as a business owner since 2005, who has to deal with customers daily, do you suspect that I'd rather deal with happy customers, or unhappy customers? I am sure you are intelligent enough to know that answer! I have always given everything in my power, to leave my customers happier than I found them! You might want to re-read that one again! Hell I'll say it again! I WANT TO LEAVE PEOPLE, NOT JUST CUSTOMERS, HAPPIER THAN I FIND THEM! These are the reasonings why people seemingly admire my character. I ain't been putting on no show for the world to see. I have always given you me! I'm giving you me right this second, as I type this new blog! I have never known how to be any other kind of way. So what I'm getting at, is I want whoever chooses to buy my new book, to know ahead of time, that I have re-read this book, at least ten times! I just finished reading it again, and actually making some minor adjustments with my current edits. I already felt good about it, but after today's adjustments, I am really, really excited, GENUINELY, for those of you that are looking to learn more about what I do, to finally be able to follow along with me step by step. I did not skip a beat. I got everything in this book from the initial inspection of the crawl space, to the final cleanup of the finished crawl space encapsulation project. And yes, if you too will follow along with me step-by-step of the way, using the same products, and referring to finished Tanner Flowers project videos, with the help of the new book, I am extremely confident that you will be able to accomplish a finished result, that you will be proud of. As of the beginning of March 2023, I officially now have a personally trained crawl space service company in Raleigh, NC. They will also do travel projects, and cover all North Carolina territories adjacent to Raleigh. If you are friends with me on Facebook, you will have already seen their first finished project. And let me go ahead and tell you, it's awesome! I have sent my local Cleveland, TN crew to North Carolina on two separate occasions, before going to Aberdeen, NC myself a few weeks ago, and training my new team there. We have videos on here, as well as on the YOUTUBE.COM/TANNERFLOWERS page, showcasing multiple Fayetteville, NC crawl space projects. The homeowner in Southern Pines, NC, next to Raleigh, NC, where I conducted my most recent crawl space company training event, is the owner of a large h-vac service company there, and he too finds himself within crawl space foundation homes daily. He told me last week, ''I have never seen anyone here, do anything close to what you do.'' And if anybody you know is honest....they'll tell you the same damn thing! You won't find a Tanner Flowers Quality Project unless Tanner Flowers has done the project, or unless Tanner Flowers has personally trained the team to conduct such a quality project. That's it! And if you doubt that, get to stroking you a check to some other company, and find out the hard way! I have been trying to help you smart homeowners for years. I hate seeing you good people get rooked! A lot of you have already gotten rooked! Some of you are in the process of getting rooked as we speak!
