You can really tell the states lacking in education whenever you see business owners from said states, repeating the ignorance delivered unto them from pest control companies, instead of standing up for what's right! If a home has a hollow block foundation, with brick veneer on the outside, you do know there's a gap between the brick veneer and hollow block don't you? Subterranean termites can go up the back side of that brick veneer, which you and I can NEVER see. Subterranean termites can go up the front side of the hollow block, which you and I can NEVER see. The hollow voids of each hollow block can be full of subterranean termite activity, again, which you and I can never see! Now, all that's left is the back side of the hollow block, which is what is visible to you and I from inside the crawl space. Do you realize what percentile we are actually able to see, versus the percentile we cannot? Now, in case you didn't know, subterranean termites must enter the soil daily. They forage up from the ground to gather food, and take it back to their colony. There are 14-16 colonies of subterranean termites per acre of land in southeast Tennessee. And they can travel 150' from their colony, to their food source. In order for them to travel up from the ground, they use mud tubes. They have no sense of sight, but are very sensitive to light, and again, require moisture in order to survive, so they travel tightly atop one another inside of these mentioned mud tubes. If a mud tube is ever present on the back side of the hollow block (the only side of the block visible to you), they have to travel up to the top of the block, climb the top edge of the hollow block, and build over to the seal plate (wooden board that sits atop the block that floor joists land on). ANYONE can see this occurring on ANY project I have ever attached my name to, INCLUDING STATES WHERE YOU ARE CONVINCED TO LISTEN TO THE IDIOTS! You just have to know how to perform a PROPER INSPECTION! Not only do I NOT listen to idiots, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT ANYTHING? Do you think these idiots are business owners?
